I'm looking for a driver for Windows 7 that will work with my sound blaster es1938s. I need it to be compatible with the newest version of that OS, because I can't use an outdated driver. Basically, I need this driver so I can use my sound card again after it stopped working when I updated to Windows 7. Can anyone help me? -Jimmy
If you're reading this post it's likely you've experienced what Jimmy is talking about - your device doesn't seem to work anymore after an update to windows 7. This issue can come up if the software or hardware drivers are not supported on windows 7 or are old versions of the latest drivers. Luckily there is a way to get the drivers. I do not own an es1938s but I can tell you how to get the drivers for Windows 7. The procedure is fairly simple. 1) Go to your device manager and uninstall any driver updates or drivers that come in since windows 7 was installed on your computer. (The reason you need to do this is because they may be old and conflict with the windows 7 drivers) 2) install the Windows 7 driver from sony then restart your computer and try again after it reboots.. Hopefully your sound card will work then. -Asa

I have the exact same problem as Jimmy. I also have an older model of the es1938s and it's been working flawlessly up until I installed Windows 7. I'm not even able to get the drivers from sony themselves anymore because my device is no longer supported under Windows 7. Does anyone know a solution? -Derek
i have a similar issue as well. i was able to download the driver from sony's website, but now whenever i plug in my sound card it causes a pop-up error saying that there was a "driver error" and that it needs to be restarted. it does not let me open my sound blaster control panel, nor can i change any settings. -Anon
